Chelsea’s academy has come under criticism for poor output over the last few years, but here are five top Blues prospects who could make it at Stamford Bridge.
Patrick Bamford
Highly promising Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford’s improvement can actually be measured over the course of the season.
The 20 year-old began the season with MK Dons in League One, and after scoring for 14 goals in 23 matches in the third tier of English football, he quickly moved to the second, signing on loan for the second half of the campaign with Championship automatic promotion contenders Derby County.
Bamford, playing on the right of Derby County’s front three, has scored five times in five starts, cutting in to shoot on his left foot.
Next term could see him set for a Premier League loan, with a chance to impress in the Chelsea side beyond that if he does well.
