Chelsea are widely known to be entering the transfer market for a striker this summer. The Daily Telegraph have named these five players as possibilities to move to Stamford Bridge – and we’ve analysed them here.
Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)
Edinson Cavani left Napoli for Paris Saint-Germain last summer aware that he was joining a side essentially built around the talents of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
That would mean moving out to the right wing role he dilligently played in for almost five years for Uruguay when Diego Forlan still started, and the 27 year-old is good enough to lead the line for most of the best teams in Europe.
Cavani has scored 14 goals in 25 appearances for PSG, but provided just a single assist all season, with only seven of his 27 attempted crosses finding a team-mate. While Ibrahimovic’s sensational form means there is no justification to reorganise the team, Cavani might well leap at the chance to play in his preferred position.
