Oregon QB Marcus Mariota will try to keep the Ducks national title hopes alive against the #7 ranked Michigan State Spartans.
Week two of the college football season begins this week, unfortunately the majority of games among top 25 teams will be against meager FCS opponents, which will make for far fewer games that aren’t over by half-time.
However there are five games worth watching, whether it’s to gauge potential national title contenders or help struggling squads break into the top 25:
#14 USC vs. #13 Stanford – Pac-12 rivalries between top contenders are always a spectacle. USC is trying to reclaim its status as a powerhouse in the conference they once dominated with QBs Matt Leinart, Mark Sanchez and Matt Barkley. Stanford has filled the void in the last few years but both teams are neck and neck for second place in the conference behind #3 Oregon. In a best case scenario, the winner of this game could ultimately win the Pac-12 title if Oregon loses against #7 Michigan State this weekend.
