TCU vs West Virginia – Horned Frogs face Mountaineers in key Big XII matchup Texas A&M Kenny Hill benched – QB Kenny Hill replaced by freshman Kyle Allen Texas A&M most to prove teams – Texas A&M has a make-or-break game today
In 2012 West Virginia officially joined the Big XII and got off to a 5-0 start, but 5 straight losses afterwards doomed their chances at a Big XII title berth and they ultimately lost to Syracuse in the Pinstripe Bowl. The following year the Mountaineers fell to a 4-8 record and was out of the bowl picture.
Now the Mountaineers are 6-2, with a 4-1 record and a 2nd place standing in the Big XII. Having beaten Baylor, Kansas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State the school is riding high, but TCU is riding higher and looks like a legitimate CFP contender. Only by beating TCU can West Virginia stake a claim in the Big XII title race and maybe even find itself back in major bowl contention for the first time since joining the conference.
Here are the top 5 games to watch in Week 10 of college football:
#7 TCU vs. #20 West Virginia – Two Big XII newcomers face off in a game with conference title implications. If TCU wins, it will likely move into the top 5. But if West Virginia wins, it will be interesting to see if they can jump into the top 15 next week.
Stanford vs. #5 Oregon – Stanford has been the nemesis of Oregon in the regular season for the last few years, but now we get to see another matchup between two great, QB-driven teams with Pac-12 North division title implications on the line.
#12 Arizona vs. #22 UCLA – With two incredible offenses, the two teams will face off with a chance to gain ground in the Pac-12, but more importantly, gain a chance at a rise in the CFP polls next week.
#17 Utah vs. #14 Arizona State – With nearly identical records, the loser of this game may be not only out of the college football playoffs, but will most likely be out of the Pac-12 title hunt.
#3 Auburn vs. #4 Ole Miss – The marquee game of the week. Both teams have only 1 loss, but a 2nd loss will almost certainly knock that team out of the playoffs.
