Manchester City brought Manuel Pellegrini to the Etihad Stadium this summer with two objectives: to progress to the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League for the first time, and to implement an attractive, attacking style of play.
Man City may have been knocked out Europe’s premier club competition by FC Barcelona in midweek, but progress was certainly made on previous campaigns.
Given that only Liverpool have scored more goals than Manchester City this season (having played two additional matches), and the sky blues are amongst the top tackling teams in the Premier League despite typically dominating possession, the high press is working well for both Pellegrini and his team.
