3. Joe Philbin, Miami Dolphins (15-17) – Philbin’s problem is not entirely what happened on the field, but off the field. The Bullying Scandal that caused a major distraction and resulted in several players and coaches being investigated by the authorities would be a huge issue for a coach to overcome in year ten, let alone year two. At first the Dolphins were able to keep it together, but in the last two games of the season, with the Dolphins needing only 1 game to clinch the playoffs, they lost both games by a combined score of 39-7. Philbin’s team has some good pieces in place with QB Ryan Tannehill coming into his own, Olivier Vernon and Cameron Wake leading the defense and some much needed improvements made on the secondary. But new Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey might not give Philbin more than a year to make these guys come together and give the team their first winning season since 2008.
