Top 5 players that need a new contract

1. Cam Newton – The star of Carolina that helped restore the team to being an NFL powerhouse for the first time in 5 years, Newton was the first victim of the new NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement that prevented him from making the maximum amount of money as a rookie that players like Sam Bradford, Matt Stafford and Mark Sanchez got as rookies. Now with two Pro Bowls and countless Panthers records under his belt, Newton deserves to get paid.  While he is clearly not a top 5 QB in the same league as Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Brees and Andrew Luck, he is a dominating QB that can make plays with his legs as well as his incredible arm, making him one of the best young QBs in football.  The Panthers need to give Newton a big-time extension soon.
