Derek Carr, Raiders – With the recent trend theme of 1st- and 2nd- round picks getting to start immediately, it was surprising that Carr, the No. 36 pick out of Fresno State, was unable to unseat Matt Schaub for the starting job. Schaub was so bad in 2013 that he set an NFL record for consecutive weeks with an INT Return-TD. Despite going into the preseason having been viewed as a frontrunner for the starting job, he failed to play well in his reps with the second-team offense in the first week and suffered an injury in week 2. The irony in all of this is that he may get his chance to start in the regular season anyway after Schaub got injured in the 3rd game.
