3. Brian Hoyer is an unknown – People like to point to Hoyer’s 3-0 record in 2013 prior to his injury and say he deserves a chance to be the starter. But why? In truth he only played two of those games to completion, and one of the biggest helps he had was All-Pro WR Josh Gordon, who had a total of 14 receptions for 217 yards from those games. But now that Gordon is facing a season-long suspension, who is to say that Hoyer will be able to have anywhere near that same level of success with the diminished offense he will have. In Arizona just one year before he played in two games (with another great receiver in Larry Fitzgerald) and a total of 330 passing yards and 2 INTs, losing both games. While Hoyer can clearly play, there is still insufficient proof that he truly is a more complete NFL QB that Manziel.
