Roger Goodell has said on many occasions that the NFL is looking into putting an NFL team in England. His intentions may be good, but logic just isn’t there yet.
With the number of NFL games in London rising to three in recent years – all of which have sold out almost immediately – there is no question that the NFL’s British fanbase is strong. And with an estimated several million NFL fans in the London metropolitan area alone, the chance for the NFL to expand to a new market is almost too good to pass up.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has suggested on many occasions that the league is looking into putting an NFL team in London and that is an admirable idea – the NFL always seems to get more and more competitive when there are more teams to compete for the Lombardi trophy. But there are far more complications with the idea than the wishful thinking Goodell and the NFL owners have as they make all of their bold proclamations of a future franchise in London.
