2. The Defense
Only a handful of teams can overcome committing four turnovers in a game, but when the Ohio State offense struggled, the defense led by Joey Bosa rose to the task. The numbers don’t do it that must justice in terms of yards, but on the four turnovers the Ducks were only able to come away with a total of 13 points.
The Ducks only converted 2 of 12 third downs, were o-for-2 on fourth down conversions, were forced to punt six times and held their dominant rushing attack to only 4.0 yards per carry.
Joey Bosa’s (possibly illegal) hit on Marcus Mariota in the second half that knocked him out for several plays put the exclamation point on the defense’s performance.
