1. Head Coach Urban Meyer
There’s no substitute for great coaching. Early in the game Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich was taking too many risks and leaving points on the field drive after drive. Meyer took more calculated gambles, calling a masterful game and forcing a defending Heisman trophy winner to beat his team through the air, while daring the Oregon defense to stack the box against Ezekiel Elliot, allowing Cardale Jones to make plays through the air and on the ground.
And amidst all of this, Meyer deserves credit for keeping Ohio State in line through multiple QB injuries, team tragedies, criticism for the weakness of their conference and almost being snubbed for the entire College Football Playoffs.
Urban Meyer is now the best coach in football – not just college football – but all of football. And the best part is he still has plenty of time left on his clock before he hangs up the headset.
