5. Mark Sanchez, Eagles
The former Jets starter is looking for a career resurrection in Philadelphia after missing the entire 2013 season due to injury and having a contract that was too large for the Jets to retain him with. Now, the young QB who led the Jets to two straight AFC Championship games is Nick Foles’ designated backup in Chip Kelly’s high-octane offense.
Sanchez is the single most inconsistent QB in the league because he has proven that he can play at the highest of high levels and the lowest of low levels on any given Sunday against any type of opponent. But he does have several things that most backup QBs lack: a proven winner (23 combined regular season and playoff wins as a starter in his first two years), the ability to win in the clutch (13 game winning drives in his first 3 seasons), and youth (only 27 years old).
While the prospect of seeing Nick Folkes go down and Mark Sanchez step up may scare many Eagles fans, there are not many backup QBs that have the same kind of experience Sanchez has when he has all of the right tools as he did in 2010.
