1. 1970 – Carlton 17.9 (111) d. Collingwood 14.17 (101)
The game’s two greatest rivals going head-to-head in front of an incredible all-time record crowd of 121,696. A perfect tonic for an epic Grand Final.
The match itself certainly lived up to the billing, with the Magpies incredibly surrendering a 44-point lead at half-time to lose the game to the Blues.
It was the match that also provided the ‘Mark of the Century’, with Carlton’s Alex Jesaulenko climbing high to take a huge grab over the top of Graeme Jenkin.
Jesaulenko’s epic mark prompted well-known commentator Mike Williamson to yell out the now-iconic “JESAULENKO, YOU BEAUTY!”.
