3. Manchester City
Man City’s pathetic defence of their maiden Premier League title and abysmal showing in the Champions League has left Roberto Mancini at risk of a summer dismissal. City’s alleged top choice, Pep Guardiola, has already opted for Bayern Munich and it is hard to image the Eastlands outfit turning down Mourinho if he indicated a willingness to do the job.
City have the squad, fan-base, infrastructure and cash to attract Mourinho, who has implicitly stated his preference for a return to the Premier League when he leaves Real.
However, if the Special One truly has ambitions of replacing Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, a move to Eastlands would not be the best career choice and it’s tricky to see the Etihad Stadium hierarchy, namely Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano, both formerly of Barcelona, appointing a man who is public enemy number one of the Catalan giants.
