Feyenoord defenders set to be watched this weekend.
Premier League trio Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are all keeping close tabs on up-and-coming Feyenoord defenders Stefan de Vrij and Bruno Martins Indi, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror.
Both centre backs are now current first choices for the Dutch national team, having replaced the previous established defensive pairing of Johnny Heitinga and Joris Mathijsen under new head coach Louis van Gaal, who is believed to want to take both players with him to next summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.
And, twenty-one-year-old De Vrij, who has captained his club side since the age of just 19, has refused to put pen to paper on a new contract with Feyenoord amid interest from the Premier League.
“I want to see what is happening now,” said De Vrij.
“I will focus on playing for the club and for Holland, but I won’t sit down with the club now about a new contract.”
It is understood that Feyenoord would demand £25 million for the duo and that all three top-flight clubs are set to be sending scouts over to watch the pair in action in the Eredivisie on Sunday, when the Rotterdam-based outfit take on arch-enemy PSV Eindhoven.
