Bastian Schweinsteiger completed his transfer to Manchester United this afternoon, leaving his beloved Bayern Munich to sign a three-year contract at Old Trafford.

10. Per Mertesacker (Arsenal)
The lanky defender has not always convinced during his four years with the Gunners, but he was a World Cup winner in Brazil last summer and has 104 caps to his name so would be impossible to ignore.
9. Steffen Freund (Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City)
Another German who split opinion during his time in North London, Freund was a tough-tackling midfielder who was loved by sections of Spurs fans until they asked him to shoot. He later returned to the Premier League with Leicester, but still failed to score in 145 outing in English football.
