8. Roberto Firmino – Liverpool
Brendan Rodgers’ marquee signing of the summer so far – no player in the Bundesliga created more chances that the Reds’ £29m winger, and if that doesn’t excite the Anfield faithful – we don’t know what will.
What’s more, the performances of Firmino could be key in Rodgers keeping his job on Merseyside after the spectacular failings of his summer signings last season.
7. Petr Cech – Arsenal
The Chelsea legend has sealed his transfer to the Emirates.
Whether the Czech Republic international’s performances could win the Gunners the title is extremely debatable; however, what may prove even more key is the influence of one of the Premier League’s most decorated and experienced players in the north London giants’ dressing-room.
Cech is no stranger to the pressure faced on the biggest of stages in English and European football. His big-game understanding combined with his authority from the back – a trait that has been hugely missing from Arsenal over the past few seasons – could prove key.
