4. Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)

Manchester United responded to Wayne Rooney’s October 2010 transfer request by handing him an enormous new contract to make him one of the highest paid footballer players in the world.

In summer 2013, Sir Alex Ferguson told the press that Rooney had done the same thing.

Though the 28 year-old England international denied handing in an official demand to leave Old Trafford, with a year and a half remaining on his contract and Rooney enjoying his football, the likelihood is that a new deal will again be on the cards.
