Young talent shines
This season’s Premier League is full of young exciting talents being given their head by their managers – and the players are rewarding the faith placed in him by their coaches.
Luke Shaw continues to shine at left back for Southampton, Ross Barkley has been thrown into the deep end to great effect by Roberto Martinez, Adnan Januzaj and Serge Gnabry have performed admirably for Manchester United and Arsenal respectively when called upon, and Ravel Morrison has been highly impressive for West Ham United.
Morrison’s performance against Tottenham Hotspur was revelatory, with his spectacular ball control atypical of the average English player, and resulting in a glorious solo goal in which he was given the ball in his own half.
The England side’s poor results at major tournaments are often blamed on the poor proportion of eligible players in the Premier League, but perhaps a situation where the cream of the crop rise to the surface is not such a bad thing, if you’ll excuse the godawful aquaflora mixed metaphor.
