4. Fernando Torres (Liverpool to Chelsea)
Fernando Torres cost Chelsea £50 million when he transferred from Liverpool in January 2011.
Unless he scored a sensational amount of goals in a blue shirt, he was always going to be judged harshly as failing to live up to that British record fee, which soon proved to be an albatross around his neck.
Torres scored his first Chelsea goal after 903 minutes of football – his only strike in 18 appearances for the Stamford Bridge outfit in his debut season.
Things have hardly got much easier for Torres, who has scored just 16 times in 90 Premier league games for the Blues.
People expect more from a £50 million player.
