Spurs continue their winning streak with another penalty.
Tottenham Hotspur continue their steady, if unspectacular, start to the 2013/14 Premier League season by beating Swansea City 1-0 through another Roberto Soldado goal.
After not being awarded a penalty for the entire last campaign, Spurs have now had two in two in the league and their club record signing made no mistake from the spot.
For Swansea it is successive defeats and leaves that the Welsh club languishing at the bottom of the table with Crystal Palace as the only sides not to have attained any points.
It could have been more for Tottenham in reality and the Swans were lucky to have escaped with just a one goal deficit, after Ashley Williams nearly headed the ball into the defender’s won net.
The strike ricocheted off the post and Williams had to be on hand later to block a shot on the line from another new Spurs signing, Paulinho.
It was not the Brazilian’s day in-front of goal as later in the match the 24-year-old saw a shot saved from Michel Vorm and then smashed the rebound over the bar.
However, manager Andre Villas-Boas will be pleased that the north London outfit have managed to keep up their good form despite the shadow of Gareth Bale’s imminent transfer to Real Madrid hanging over White Hart Lane.
Along with Soldado and Paulinho, fellow new face Etienne Capoue looked in good form during the Frenchman’s home debut and looks like another shrewd signing from AVB.
