Tottenham have accepted a £1.8million bid from LA Galaxy for out-of-favour striker Robbie Keane.
The Republic of Ireland international has struggled for first-team opportunities at White Hart Lane over the past two seasons resulting in loan spells to Celtic and last season West Ham.
The 31-year-old is expected to move on before the transfer window closes as Spurs look to get his high wages off their books.
But David Beckham’s MLS club were facing a race against time to sign the former Inter Milan striker before the transfer window closed.
And Galaxy also had to offload former Aston Villa striker Pablo Angel if they wanted to add Keane to their list of designation players along with Beckham and Landon Donovan.
Leicester and Blackburn had also made an approach but Keane has made no secret of his desire to play in America and flirted with the idea back in January prior to joining West Ham on loan.
But Foxes boss Sven Goran Eriksson may make one last ditch attempt to snare the forward with a lucrative contract offer as City look to secure promotion to the Premier League.
