Tottenham could sign Fredy Guarin this January…
Spurs have entered the race for Inter Milan’s Colombian midfield ace Fredy Guarin, reports French publication Le Figaro.
It had previously been reported that Chelsea were close to signing the 27-year-old battler, but Spurs’ Premier League rivals decided to complete a deal for Serbian enforcer Nemanja Matic instead, who arrived at Stamford Bridge last week.
As a result, Guarin is still on the market, and Spurs could sign him as a replacement for Etiene Capoue, who is still a target for Serie A side Napoli, Italian website Corriere dello Sport claims.
Capoue has struggled since arriving at White Hart Lane in the summer, and because of injuries and poor form has only made six league starts all season.
As a result, Spurs could ship him out which will leave room the Inter’s anchorman. Guarin has scored three and assisted four goals in all competitions, but will likely cost considerably more than the fee they would expect to receive for Capoue.
