Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is confident of completing the signing of West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino, according to reports.
The Argentine international is keen to bolster his attacking stocks before the closure of the summer window, especially after his side’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Saturday.
Berahino has also been linked with Arsenal and Manchester United, however, it is believed Tottenham are in pole position to snare the signature of the England under-21 international.
According to The Daily Mail, Tottenham had an £18m bid rejected by the Baggies but a £24m deal is expected to be agreed in the coming days.
Pochettino says he is confident Spurs chairman Daniel Levy can get the deal over the line.
“The chairman Daniel Levy is working hard,” Pochettino said.
“He is trying to bring in the player that we want and I think that we have confidence in him. I trust him.”
West Brom brought in Zenit St Petersburg striker Salomon Rondon over the summer and manager Tony Pulis could look to cash in on Berahino and make another dive into the transfer market before the summer window closes at the end of the month.
Berahino has scored 19 goals in 72 Premier League appearances since making his debut in 2010.
