The 24-year-old has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga winners this season, with Metro reporting that Tottenham are willing to trigger his £7.1m release clause in order to bring the centre-back to White Hart Lane.
Metro’s report states that Bartra’s initial release clause was in the region of £35m, however as he has played less than 60% of Barcelona’s games this season the clause was dropped to £7.1m.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is an avid fan of technically-gifted defenders, and the Spanish international certainly fits the bill.
Bartra is believed to be highly-rated by the Catalan club, however he is behind both Gerard Pique and Jeremy Mathieu in the pecking order at the Camp Nou.
With Thomas Vermaelen also set to return next season, Bartra’s opportunities will be limited and a move to the Premier League may be a solid option for the La Masia graduate.
