New Spurs boss close to sealing deal for Argentine veteran.Tottenham Hotspur could be closing in on a deal to snap up experienced Argentine midfielder Esteban Cambiasso on a free transfer, according to the Daily Express.
The 33-year-old is available for nothing this summer after allowing his contract at previous club Inter Milan to run down, and his fellow countryman Pochettino is seemingly a big fan of his as he looks to make him his first signing since taking over at White Hart Lane.
With a largely young and inexperienced squad, Spurs could do with someone of Cambiasso’s pedigree at the club, with the former Real Madrid man having won numerous titles as well as the Champions League during his time at the San Siro.
A number of big clubs in Europe are said to have shown an interest in Cambiasso, while a return to Argentina with River Plate had also been mooted, though an agreement for him to move to Tottenham could now be close to completion.
Spurs finished in a disappointing sixth place in 2013/14, and will be hoping to improve under Pochettino, who got the job after impressing at previous club Southampton.
