Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck is a target for Tottenham Hotspur and the North Londoners are confident of landing the England international on transfer deadline day, according to the Mirror.
The window shuts on Monday and Spurs are keen on signing Welbeck on a loan deal as he has been told he can leave Old Trafford by new manager Louis van Gaal.
The 23-year-old is behind both captain Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie for a place upfront and van Gaal has told the attacker he can leave in order to obtain more game time.
Both Arsenal and Schalke 04 have also considered a move for Welbeck, but the Bundesliga outfit have been ruled out because the Englishman wants to stay in the Premier League.
Tottenham are on the hunt for recruitment in the final third with options fairly limited for new manager Mauricio Pochettino currently.
Although Emmanuel Adebayor has continued his good form from last season, £26m signing Roberto Soldado is severely lacking confidence and there are doubts over whether Harry Kane has what it takes to succeed in the top flight.
Welbeck is a product of the Red Devils youth academy, breaking into the first team in 2008 before spending time on-loan with Preston North End and Sunderland.
The striker has played 142 times for United in all competitions to date, scoring 29 goals.
