Andre Villas-Boas hinted the winger will be penalised for his actions.
Tottenham are mulling over whether to fine want-away star Gareth Bale as his dream move to Real Madrid edges closer to completion.
Bale failed to show up for a second day of training as he strives to force through a world record £86 million transfer to the Spanish capital, which Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas confirmed would be completed within the next 48 hours.
The 24-year-old winger was due back on Tuesday following a short break in Marbella but wasn’t present at the club’s training facility on Wednesday and Villas-Boas hinted the Welshman could be penalised for effectively going on strike.
“I gave the player the weekend off, Monday was a day off for the squad,” he informed The Mirror.
“Obviously he is involved in a big transfer move to Real Madrid. In the end if it happens we wish him all the best.
“He will leave us here with great memories. The fact that he hasn’t turned up, I don’t know if it is the correct behaviour, in the end it is pressure and a statement from the player.
“Now it is up to the club to decide if it is a fineable offence.”
Spurs won’t allow Bale to leave until they have brought a replacement – expected to be Roma’s Erik Lamela – to White Hart Lane and Villas-Boas admitted for the first time that Spurs and Madrid are in talks to finalise the deal before the transfer deadline on Monday.
“I am not sure ow much longer it will take, it could go to the last day, it could be in the next two days,” the Portuguese coach added.
