Tottenham’s new director of football could lure Man United’s Nani and PSV’s Kevin Strootman away from former employers Roma.
Franco Baldini has paved the way for Spurs to sign Manchester United’s Nani and PSV’s Kevin Strootman from under the noses of Roma, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Italian newspaper claims Roma were close to sealing deals for their top two summer targets but Baldini has used his knowledge and contacts to steal a march on the Italian side.
Fans of the Italian club will be fuming, after Baldini helped line-up the two players as transfer targets while working for the side last season.
However, reports in the Dutch media – covered by Seria A focussed website Football Italia – says Roma are close to securing a €15m deal for Strootman, which would suggest Spurs interest has either waned or was non-existent.
The future of Nani remains up in the air but Manchester United returned to pre-season training on Monday, so expect some decisions on the Portuguese in the coming weeks.
