Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to snub interest from North Londoners Tottenham and sign a new deal at the St. Mary’s, reports the Daily Mirror.
The Argentine boss was seen as the prime candidate to replace recently sacked Spurs boss Tim Sherwood, but it seems as though the 41-year old wants to continue his good work with the Saints.
Pochettino managed Southampton to a safe 14th placed finish last season after taking over from Nigel Adkins, and he has exceeded all expectations with the south coast club this season by leading them to an impressive 8th placed finish in the league.
The former Espanyol boss was concerned about the Saints selling some of their best players this summer, but his agreeing to a new deal probably means that Southampton are ready to fight it out to keep their best players in Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw and Morgan Schneiderlin at the club beyond this summer.
Spurs though will now have to look further for the man to replace Sherwood and bring the club back on the path to pushing for a Champions League place next season.
