Spain’s record goalscorer is expected to depart Camp Nou at the end of the season.
Tottenham Hotspur are said to be increasingly confident of signing FC Barcelona front man David Villa this summer, according to reports in the Sunday Telegraph.
The deadly Spain international has endured a tough time of it at Camp Nou of late, with this season in particular proving to be a real struggle for the 31-year-old who has had to battle to try to win a starting berth under new Barca head coach Tito Vilanova.
In total, Villa has featured in 26 Liga contests to date for the Catalan giants, managing to find the back of the net on just nine occasions, while also registering four assists as well along the way as Barcelona regained the title from arch-rivals Real Madrid.
Meanwhile overall, the striker has netted 15 goals in 38 fixtures in all competitions for the club, although with his contract in Catalonia due to expire at the end of June 2014, the club are keen to offload Villa this summer rather than risk losing him on a free next year, with Spurs now thought to be his most likely next port of call.
