1. Lost the fans
Like George Graham before him, Sherwood got off to a bad start with the Tottenham faithful after footage of him admitting to have a soft spot for Arsenal emerged. Rumours he had undermined Villas-Boas didn’t help but most fans were willing to give him a chance. Sherwood’s lack of tactical nous, public criticism of the squad and, of course, poor results have gone down badly with supporters, however, many of whom have been calling for his head for over a month; when that happens, the board has little choice but to act.
