Top-flight rivals are both keen to land the powerful forward for next season.
Tottenham Hotspur have now joined Premier League rivals Manchester City in the race to sign prolific Sevilla front man Alvaro Negredo this summer, says the Daily Mirror.
It had been thought that the experienced Spain international would sign for the north-west giants when the transfer window reopened at the start of this month, however, that does not now appear to be the case after the north Londoners also expressed an interest in the 27-year-old.
Negredo has been with the Andalusians for the past four seasons now, having originally signed for the Liga outfit from fellow Spanish side Almeria on a five-year deal worth 15 million euros in the summer of 2009.
And in the intervening four-year period the powerful centre forward has already established himself as being one of the most effective and devastating attackers plying his trade on the Continent, having netted 85 goals in just 180 matches in all competitions for Sevilla, including an equally impressive 70 strikes in only 139 Liga outings.
