North Londoners should conclude deal for Samba Star this week.
Former Argentina playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme has likened Tottenham Hotspur-bound midfield player Paulinho to Chelsea star Frank Lampard, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
The north London club are expected to complete a £17 million deal for the box-to-box Corinthians midfielder by the end of the week now that the summer transfer window has finally reopened for business.
And the one-time Argentina international, who played against the Brazilian in the Copa Libertadores in May, has sung the praises of the 24-year-old, claiming that: “Paulinho is like a black Lampard, but also makes headed goals. He is a phenomenon.”
Paulinho has been at Corinthians for the past three years, during which time the player has found the back of the net on 20 occasions in only 86 matches in all competitions for his club, and this from a deep-lying midfield role.
Meanwhile for the Selecao, Paulinho has managed to hit the target five times already in just his 17 internationals since making his Brazil debut in 2011.
