Christian Benitez could become a transfer target for Spurs this summer.
Tottenham Hotspur could make a surprise move for former Birmingham City striker Christian Benitez this summer, and are ready to offer £9m for the Colombian according to Sky Sports.
The 27-year old has been in fine form for Mexican side Club America, scoring 52 goals in his two seasons with the side, and the club have said they will not stand in his way should an offer come in.
Benitez left the Premier League in 2010, but could be set for a return after Club America president Ricardo Pelaez hinted that Spurs are ready to make a move.
“There could be a good offer for Christian from Tottenham.
“I’ve spoken with him and he wants to return to Europe. We won’t clip his wings if we get an offer that suits us.”
Spurs have been linked with a host of strikers this summer including Christian Benteke, Leandro Damiao, and David Villa, as Andre Villas Boas looks to strengthen an attacking front line that struggled for consistency this season, with both Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermaine Defoe struggling in front of goal.
