Londoners believe they can persuade the Dutchman to swap Spain for England.
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Andre Villas-Boas is lining up a move for talented FC Barcelona midfield player Ibrahim Afellay this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
The mercurial Netherlands international has only been with the Liga champions for the past two-and-a-half seasons now, having originally signed for Barca from PSV Eindhoven for just 3 million euros in Dec 2010.
However, the 27-year-old spent the previous campaign out on loan with Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04, where Afellay made only the 13 appearances for the Germans, scoring four goals in the process, including two strikes in his nine league matches for the club.
The north Londoners, though, are said to be keen to sign the attacking midfield player when the summer transfer window finally reopens for business once again on July 1, although with a contract at Camp Nou that runs until June 30 2015, the forward could cost Spurs as much as £10m to sign.
However, the Metro claim that a deal could be done for as little as £5m.
