North London club are desperate to add more firepower to their attack next season.
Tottenham Hotspur want to sign unsettled FC Barcelona front man David Villa when the transfer window reopens this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mail.
The deadly Spain international has been with the Liga champions for three years now, having arrived at Camp Nou from Valencia on a four-year contract for a fee of 40 million euros in May 2010.
However, ever since breaking his leg in December 2011 in the Club World Championship in Japan, the attacker has found it hard to win back a regular starting berth with the Spanish giants.
So much so that Villa has featured in just 42 league matches for Barca in the past two campaigns, finding the back of the net on only 14 occasions during that time.
And now the north Londoners want to take advantage of the current uncertainty surrounding the striker’s future in Catalonia by offering him an escape route to White Hart Lane when the transfer window opens on 1 July for a cut-price fee somewhere in the region of £10m.
