Spurs are desperate for more creativity in midfield next campaign.
Tottenham Hotspur have stolen a march on Premier League rivals Liverpool in the race to land skilful Newcastle United playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa at the end of this season, says the Daily Express.
The France international has not had the best of campaigns at St James’ Park as both he and the team have struggled badly for consistency and form, although the midfield player has been suffering from a number of injuries that have also affected his progress in the North East.
However, that has by all accounts not put off the north London club from approaching the Magpies about bringing the 26-year-old to White Hart Lane this summer.
Ben Arfa, who is also wanted by Liverpool, has only featured in 16 Premier League games for Alan Pardew’s strugglers so far this season, scoring three times and creating two other goals for team-mates as well along the way, and is the type of creative attacker that could fit in well at Spurs next campaign.
