Napoli midfielder Blerim Dzemaili could be the first signing made by the new man in the hotseat at White Hart Lane, according to reports in the Daily Star.
New boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add numbers to his midfield, particularly as Sandro is looking more and more likely to depart the club – with Napoli mentioned as a potential destination for the Brazilian.
Swiss international Dzemaili endured a disappointing spell in the Premier League with Bolton Wanderers early on his career, but has gone on to establish himself as one of Serie A’s most reliable midfielders during spells with Torino, Parma and Napoli.
Former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez is looking to rejig his squad at Napoli as the club hope to sustain a longer challenge both in the Champions League and to Serie A holders Juventus next season, with Dzemaili believed to be one of the players he may be willing to let go in order to raise funds.
The report also mentions Liverpool and West Ham United as potential destinations for Dzemaili, with Hammers boss Sam Allardyce having been the man who brought him to England originally for a short spell in Lancashire.
