North London club must meet Barca’s asking price or else attacker may end up in Serie A instead next season.
FC Barcelona front man David Villa will make a final decision about his future next week, with the Spaniard set to choose between either Tottenham Hotspur or Fiorentina, according to reports in the Sunday Mail.
The in-demand Spain international has definitely opted to leave Camp Nou when the summer transfer window reopens for business on July 1 after struggling to hold down a regular starting berth in attack for the Liga champions in recent times.
The 31-year-old broke his leg playing for Barca in the Fifa World Club Championship in Dec 2011 and despite registering an impressive 16 goals and six assists in his 40 matches in total in all competitions for the Catalans last season, the attacker and his employers have agreed that a split is now the best course of action for both parties this summer.
However, if Tottenham head coach Andre Villas-Boas does want to land his man then the north London club will need to meet Barcelona’s £12 million asking price for Villa or risk losing out to Fiorentina in the race for the forward’s signature.
