Forward has generally struggled to convincer in attack at the Lane.
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Andre Villas-Boas has put front man Jermain Defoe up for sale this summer as the Portuguese looks to reshape his squad in order to launch a new assault on the top four of the Premier League next season, says the Metro.
The England international has been at White Hart Lane for the past four-and-a-half seasons now, having originally signed for the north London club from Portsmouth for £15.75 million in Jan 2009.
And in the intervening period in the capital, the 30-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth up front for Tottenham, particularly since head coach Andre Villas-Boas took over from previous manager Harry Redknapp in the Spurs hot seat last summer.
As a result, Defoe netted just 15 goals in all competitions in the previous campaign, including only 11 strikes in the Premier League, with his Portuguese boss understood to now be willing to listen to offers for the striker when the summer transfer window opens on July 1.
