North Londoners are desperate to add more fiewpower to their attack at the Lane next season.
Tottenham Hotspur are confident of signing unsettled Aston Villa front man Christian Benteke this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
The prolific Belgium international has been the subject of much interest of late from a whole host of big-name clubs from across the Continent, including Fiorentina and Atletico de Madrid, who are both known to currently be on the look-out for a new centre forward for next season.
However, the north London club feel that they are capable of matching the terms on offer from those two clubs and with the 22-year-old still to have put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at Villa Park, Tottenham head coach Andre Villas-Boas feels that he can persuade the player to swap Villa Park for White Hart Lane this summer in a deal worth £25 million.
Benteke hit an impressive 23 goals in only 39 matches in all competitions for Paul Lambert’s struggling side last season, strikes that effectively kept the club in the Premier League come the end of the campaign, and now the forward must decide whether he wants to remain in the Midlands or seek a new challenge elsewhere.
