Andre Villas-Boas believes bale’s star power will encourage other top players to join Spurs.
After a stellar season which has seen the Welsh star win both the player and young player of the year awards, Andre Villas-Boas hopes that other top European players will be drawn to White Hart Lane.
While Champions League football may not be accomplished this season, the lure of playing with one of the worlds best players is something that the Spurs boss thinks will make the team better next season.
“I think the more strong your squad is, the better, and the fact that we have Gareth achieving those individual awards this season is obviously something that other players will recognise as important moving forward,” he told Sky Sports.
“This summer, we will be adding quality players, I think. We can’t compete at the level that others go for in terms of the big names that are around and the players that you expect to be moved for having done well during the season.”
Spurs need a win a win on Sunday at home to Sunderland and for Arsenal to drop points at Newcastle for them to qualify for the Champions League next season, but it seems clear that Villas-Boas is confident that the team can still improve next season.
Bale has elevated the Spurs side to a higher level, and helped take the team to a Quarter-Final appearance in the Europa League this season.
Playing at a level that has seen him put in the category as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi this season, the prediction by his manager may not be too far-fetched, and a bright future for Spurs may not be too far beyond the horizon.
