Mauricio Pochettino has hinted that Tottenham Hotspur’s summer spending could be over, according to the Express, with the new Spurs boss also having praised the “unbelievable” squad that he has at his disposal at White Hart Lane.
The former Southampton boss has signed Ben Davies, Michel Vorm, Eric Dier and DeAndre Yedlin since arriving at White Hart Lane, but it seems as though Pochettino’s focus this season may be on reigniting the Spurs careers of players such as Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado, who struggled last season after big money moves from the continent.
Pochettino suggested that he is satisfied with the options that he currently has at his disposal during his first pre-match press conference as Spurs manager:
“[Transfers] are not my concern, I think we have an unbelievable squad.”
“Last season the club made a big investment and signed some unbelievable players.”
His quotes do, however, also hint towards the fact that transfer policy at White Hart Lane is dictated as much by Daniel Levy and Franco Baldini as it is by the manager.
Pochettino will take to the dug-out as Tottenham manager for the first time at the weekend, as he looks to kick off the season with a victory over local rivals West Ham United.
