The boss is delighted with the form of the youngster.
After another great display, Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has been moved to praise Andros Townsend as the winger scores another goal.
Townsend netted Spurs’ first in a 0-2 win over Aston Villa, as a cross from the 22-year-old deceived everybody and found its way into the back of Brad Guzan’s net.
The midfielder gave Villa left-back Antonio Luna problems all day with the starlet’s pace and skill and Villas-Boas is delighted with what the coach saw.
“He is a player that came with great drive to do well this season. He has great talent and has no fear when taking the ball forward,” the 35-year-old told talkSPORT.
“Like everybody else his confidence grew and improved from the first-half to the second. He has the solidity to jump the man and take the team forward. It’s very pleasing to see.”
This showing at Villa Park came in the same week as Townsend inspired England to back-to-back victories in their crucial World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland.
The appearances were the winger’s first two caps for the nation and the attacking midfielder netted in the first match and was dangerous again in the second.
Despite Tottenham’s acquisition of several new midfield talents such as Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela this summer, it is Townsend that is getting the longest run in the team.
If the north London club are to break into the top four and the Champions League this year, it’s likely the Englishman will play a big part.
