Porto pair set to join big-spending Ligue 1 outfit.
Long-term Tottenham target Joao Moutinho is set to undergo a medical at Monaco, ahead of signing for the newly-promoted Ligue 1 outfit, reports Portuguese source Abola.
Monaco are believed to have agreed a £60m fee with Porto for the transfer of Moutinho and teammate James Rodriguez.
The pair travelled to the principality early on Friday morning and are set to be the first of many big-money additions to Claudio Ranieri’s squad this summer.
Moutinho, 26, almost joined Spurs on August transfer deadline day last summer and it is believed boss Andre Villas-Boas was again keen to recruit the playmaker, who he worked with at Porto, this summer.
The double deal will technically see Rodriguez become the second most expensive player in history – behind Cristiano Ronaldo – after Monaco agreed to pay £59m for the winger but just £1m for Moutinho, helping Porto avoid a hefty 25 per cent sell-on clause owed to the Portuguese international’s former club Sporting Lisbon.
