Tottenham Hotspur could be set to miss out on the signing of PSV winger Memphis Depay as Nacher Chadli has rejected a move in the opposite direction, according to the Daily Mail.
Spurs had looked favourites to land the exciting 20-year-old, also a rumoured target for Manchester United, but face an uphill struggle to do so now as they will have to pay up a high transfer fee to bring him to White Hart Lane.
New manager Mauricio Pochettino had hoped to kill two birds with one stone and offer Chadli as a makeweight in the deal, taking the chance to offload an unwanted player and lower Depay’s transfer fee in one move.
However, Chadli has rejected the chance to return to the Eredivisie, having only moved to the Premier League from FC Twente last summer.
Having disappointed in his time with Tottenham so far, it is no surprise to see the club trying to offload him, with Depay looking an outstanding young talent and far better option for them in the wide areas.
