Tottenham will offer Swansea City the chance to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson, as they look to beat Liverpool to deals for Swans duo Ben Davies and Wilfried Bony.
The South Wales Evening Post believe that new Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to secure the signings of full-back Davies, and striker Bony, as he looks to remodel his squad.
After initially emerging as favourites for the duo’s signature, the presence of Liverpool as potential competition as left Tottenham sweating over their first signings of this summer’s transfer window.
Liverpool are keen on a new left-back following their well-documented problems in that position last season, and could look to add another striker to replace the Barcelona bound Luis Suarez.
The Reds are hoping that Brendan Rodgers’ connections at the club, as well as the lure of Champions League football, will be enough to convince the players to move to Anfield.
Pochettino has now turned to midfielder Sigurdsson, who enjoyed a successful loan at Swansea in 2012, as a possible makeweight lure. The Icelandic international, 24, has made 58 Premier League appearances in two seasons for Tottenham, but could be available this summer.
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has admitted Spurs have enquired about Ben Davies — but insists the London club have made no progress over a possible deal for the Welsh international left-back.
Tottenham have reportedly offered £8 million for Davies and been told that there is no chance of Swansea agreeing to sell at that price.
