Spurs boss could reignite interest in Willian.
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is on alert after Anzhi Makhachkala made Willian available for transfer, reports The Times.
The Portuguese has twice to sign the 24-year-old in his management career, last summer with Tottenham and in his ill-fated spell in charge of Chelsea two years ago.
Spurs were priced out a move for Willian, who joined Anzhi for around £30m in January but the Russian club have put the forward up for sale, along with all the big-earners in their first team squad, as they look to cut spending by 50 per cent.
Willian, who scored four Champions League goals in just six games for Shakhtar before moving to Russia, will reportedly be available for between €15m and €20m (£12-17m) as Anzhi look to raise funds quickly.
The Brazil international has previously spoken of his friendship with Villas-Boas and admitted last year that he occasionally exchanged text messages with the former Porto boss.
The player would join compatriots Paulinho, Sandro and Heurelho Gomes at Spurs, should he join.
Spurs have already agreed a deal to sign Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue, 25, for an initial £6.9m, a move which will take the North London outfit’s summer spending to close to £60m.
The France international has been offered a five-year deal at White Hart Lane and his arrival is likely to spell the end of Scott Parker’s or Tom Huddlestone’s spell at the club.
